unlock recordings is an artist family based in buenos aires, one of the main cultural points in latin america. our main aim is to show the world the music and grooves created by our crew, which is tightly united by the passion for music, culture and art existing in every member, each one of them with their varied influences and personal experiences.

the main idea for the luxxury edit series was to take overplayed and/or uncool songs and turn them into tracks that i myself would want to dj. initially the plan was to do this exclusively using the sounds from the original multi tracks, rather than the typical throw a new beat and some swooshes on it kind of re-edit.

title track don t stop is a loose and playful thing that chucks loopy, circular drums, little vocal riffs, synth stabs and tumbling toms into the mix and lets them all groove along for almost six infectious minutes. its a spritely, silvery and slithering concoction that makes you shake your every limb. stare is a deeper, darker thing with rattling snares rolling over flappy kick drums and wobbling synths ducking in and out of the space left behind. its a tumultuous, drum lead affair that toys with your expectation, threatening to drop or explode but never quite doing so, instead keeping you right on the edge of your seat throughout. the final offering is nian which again has super well defined drums and hits all tumbling and sparking off each other. it s spacious stuff, too, and the indecipherable foreign language vocals add another layer of intrigue to what is already a fascinating cut.

killekill is proud to present eomac’s “spectre”, the debut album from dublin-based producer ian mcdon- nell, a rising star in the techno scene. spectre also marks the label’s first full-length album release. ian is better-known as half of the irish duo lakker and this album is certainly carved from the same cold slab of stone. his music has already gained huge support from the likes of tommy four seven, ellen allien, thom yorke and the one and only aphex twin himself. bleepy, slo-mo synth lines, dense textures, saturated bassdrums and hand-sliced vocals dunked in cavern- ous reverb – spectre is all about eomac doing what he does best, taking our concepts of club sound and contorting them into something that is truly his own. the melodies are slo-mo and lo-fi, the pads, exquisitely lush and textured. ian’s amazing sound-design (bordering on the intense in some places) and incredible attention to detail makes this an album where each listen reveals a deeper layer. spatters of noise, shards of broken beat and relentlessly pounding techno rhythms also make it a dancefloor-decimating weapon.

*how you say* is the new single from factory floor. this is the third of three 12 inch singles and contains part of a wide and wonderful selection of remixes. this third ep contains new versions, both from bookworms, who turned in 2 new versions that were so good, we had no choice but to put them both out. bookworms aka nik dawson, had recorded many striking singles for both l.i.e.s. & confused house, collaborating with steve summers. this is his second remix for dfa (the first was for larry gus) and we are thrilled to have him back in the mix.

lux rec continue their endless research at the margins of music, what is underground, at every latitude, to find rough gems and bring them to light. after a series of releases which explore techno in various ways, they turned their attention to another field. that of the cold electronics and new wave movement, and french musical existentialism. cold colors comes from bordeaux, france. to lux rec he is the best expression of and a new take on that type of music. a sense of solitude is the first reaction to his music. melodic longings for something that is not there, unreachable. four songs to depict a hopeless stare into emptiness. shadows of a love long gone.

having started the year in strong fashion, fighting *the clone wars* on his own rekids imprint in january before following that with the rødhåd-remixed *repeat myself* on work them, matt edwards aka radio slave continues his 2014 ascension with his nonplus+ debut *dont stop no sleep*. another pared-down techno workout, *dont stop no sleep* is a classic radio slave roller imbued with the tougher edge of his earlier techno productions such as grindhouse and screaming hands, retaining the hallmarks of his most influential work whilst updating it with his now trademark energetic house style.

one of these things is not like the others. put veteran producer and general madman eddie ruscha (aka secret circuit, laughing light of plenty, dadamunchamunky) in a studio with the spritely whipper-snapper diego herrera (aka suzanne kraft & 1/3 pharaohs) and your results will be nothing less than an epic jam. as the name blasé suggests, their laxadasical style and confident panache is abundant. the duo ease into their productions with a cool hand and an open mind, letting the moment take them somewhere foreign to bask in surreal surroundings, but not without documenting the trip.

seafloor is the experimental-dance music brainchild of brooklyn-based musician, producer and graphic designer matthew young, heretofore better known for his role as keyboardist/vocalist in the synth-dance outfit body language and one half of vacationer. for the lure ep, his third official release as seafloor, young has sculpted four heavy-hitting tracks that take cues from the classic house model but re-contextualize them within the constantly mutating scene of club music. pronounced melodies, textures and rhythmic elements are woven together seamlessly to create rich, vibrant songs that engage the listener as well as inspire kinetic movement

marco latrach from chile, prepared a fantastic ep with four solid originals. in them we will find several mixtures of deep house, house and tech. vision is driven by a very powerful string bass that makes the base for the rest of the elements and helps create an incredible vibe

keita sano is from okayama, japan. he discovered mister saturday night in the vinyl bins of his local record shop, which inspired him to make and send them these three tunes.

cgi is proud to present the debut of 2 new duos who are experts at making their synths and sequencers sweat divine moisture. lyman-alpha forest is a new collaborative project between producers grey people (proper trax, finale sessions) and talk (deconstructure). as a duo they work to bring acid into new territories with their heavy, low-slung approach to producing melodic-and-spacious yet tight-and-focused slow-burning club-weapons. whether or not this is due to a stroke of compositional genius or if it is simply a side effect of the high levels of sizzurp found in the tap water in their hometown of nashville is irrelevant, but the effect is intoxicating all the same. travel 7 hours up i-65 and you will end up somewhere in chicago where afterburner spends long cold winter nights painting vivid synthesized tapestries as epic as the citys skyline. the duo of nicholas reed (windbreaker) and travis thatcher (voice of saturn) employ an aresnal of modular and analog gear to produce lushly cinematic tracks that chug along like classic moroder productions while simultaneously evoking the rich melodicism of kraftwerk. whether you listen to them at home in the headphones or on the dancefloor in the club, these tracks will take you on a wild ride.

with credits between them ranging from hypercolour, future boogie, fear of flying, southern fried, save you and wolf, dj/producers james welsh and ste roberts team up under their r&w pseudonym for this, the 7th release on initials with its clear mandate from the word go back in 2012 to release only the most underground house and techno, initials (helmed by ste himself, hypercolours alex jones and 1trax label boss dave elkabas) delivers the goods yet again with the socks & scandals ep. at just 2 tracks, there is no need to say more, with opener meat an understated mechanical exploration into the art of evolving and hypnotic beat-crafting, while bucket sheep employs rhythmic detail in a broader soundscape to great effect, offsetting the incessant marching bass expertly.

2 years ago their hit *strange* plunged the deep house faithfuls into the limelight, gaining them support from across the boarder. adana twins were being praised by djs of all genres and receiving standing ovations in clubs. this resulted in a bunch of new remixes, massive press attention and a busy tour schedule all over the world, with an australia, america and brasil tour. aside from their hectic worldwide touring schedule, the duo remixed *schwarz dont crack* on kitsune. in march 2014, this entertaining duo will be releasing the fresh new single drive featuring khan (ex-captain comatose/playhouse/i m single) on exploited.

touchin bass takes a different turn this time by introducing you to newcomers mkfn, a live production project formed in 2012 by babar raza (us), ovais hassan (uk) and fahad ahmad (canada). over the course of the year they have designed a system that allows them to create music across borders that has been defined as experimental, dark and gritty. the collective integrates each members extensive musical background gained from working across multiple genres. this unique combination invites distinctive sounds into the studio forming the foundation for mkfns characteristic sound.

with *closer* masterton debuts on blackfoxmusics 19th release (bfm019). *closer* is a warm track with a deep groove and beautiful melodies. it relates to living in a long distance relationship and overcoming a lack of proximity.
robert babicz (babiczstyle, systematic, bedrock records) created an incredible remix. he used lots of the original melodies, combined them with new elements, added rolling drums and a thick bassline to give the track the extra drive. his remix became a constant part of his live sets and was debuted with great response at grelle forelle (vienna) and ritter butzke (berlin).
channel x (stil vor talent) remixed *closer* into a pretty cool and clubby deep house track. you can feel their berlin origin when listening to the groovy bassline with variations of the melody. finally the breaks capture the mood of the dissonant sounds from the original track.

we dont know, whether this guy is sleeping at all. he just released a new ep under his rar moniker. he seems to be nonstop assembling and fiddling on some delay pedals and what not. let alone all the touring. and then he comes up with a km022, that setsdirectives and also lives up to them, as if it was nothing.

the new metronomy album, love letters, has a title that speaks volumes about sensations and modes of communication, about things that have always been there, and will always be here. its no coincidence either. this is a record that wants to be timeless. in its execution, love letters tries to do fresh things in an old-fashioned way. it takes richer methods of recording and injects them with the shock of the new of tight electronics, and experiments in sound. it does so not to be retro, but to embrace the quality standards of the past. it also aims to be up there with the greats, reaching for those old stars.

stompin at the savoy – live (1983) was a major commercial success for rufus and chaka khan, reaching #4 on billboards r&b albums charts. this double-record set features three sides of live material recorded over multiple dates at the savoy theatre in new york. the band stunned packed audiences with an energetic set of old favorites and new material, such as *tell me something good*, *you got the love*, *sweet thing*, *at midnight (my love will lift you up)*, and *do you love what you feel* as well as *what cha gonna do for me* from khans 1981 solo album of the same name. the d-side includes four new studio recordings of which two were released as singles, *aint nobody* and *one million kisses*. *aint nobody* became rufus final #1 r&b hit and won them a grammy award for best r&b performance by a duo or group with vocal in 1984. the song was featured in the movie breakin and its soundtrack.

millie & andrea are miles whittaker and andy stott, fellow labelmates at modern love who collaborated on an occasional series of 12inch releases between 2008 and 2010. its been four years since we last heard from them but they now return with drop the vowels, their debut album.

graze minerals possess a superlative lustre, which is most notably seen in diamond. such frequencies are transparent or translucent in nature, and have a high refractive index. tones with a true adamantine lustre are uncommon, with examples being cerussite and zircon. mweapon minerals display luminous bass bands, which appear to move as the specimen is rotated. such frequencies are composed of parallel fibers, which reflect sound into a direction perpendicular to their orientation, thus forming narrow bands of light. the most famous examples are fm and subtractive, but the effect may also occur in other sound banding - such aquamarine, moonstone and tourmaline. scrap minerals consist of thin transparent co-planar sheets. light reflecting from these layers give them a lustre reminiscent of pearls. such minerals possess perfect cleavage, with examples including muscovite and moss opal.

oberman knocks original version (white) is a laid-back affair housed within a glassy place of worship, echoing with monastic vocals, strings, wind instruments and field recordings, which are offset by synthetic beats, funk bass and entwined sleazy vocals.
in contrast autechres remix (black), panning out at just over 17 minutes long, is everything that you wouldd expect from the duo – a frantic, fractured and detailed to within an inch of its life piece, that has no need to build, but instead unravels and mutates into what is an unmistakable autechre crescendo.
whilst both versions play out at opposite ends of the tempo spectrum, what connects them is that they are both emotional machine music with guts and vigour.

following on from killawatts bring down the walls ep at the tail end of last year osiris music continues to expand their sonic boundaries as they move in 2014, with their first release of the year coming in the form of sleepers simulation theory ep. experimenting for the very first time with fm synthesis, the ep features seven tracks of thunderous production the majority of sounds for which sleeper drew from a mere four oscillators in a bid to recalibrate his production skills. the resulting record is far more than the sum of its component parts and, save for the skulking, static soaked tension of meth, moves with relentless force and purpose throughout.the simulation theory ep sees sleeper taking his already deft grasp of both dubstep and techno production and fusing them to a body of pummelling forward momentum perfectly suited to set osiris music off on what promises to be a bold and progressive year.
